Turning Twelve.

WOW, how did this happen so fast?  Hawk turns twelve in 4 days.  As if his 12th birthday isn't enough for me, he also will be experiencing "step up" day at the JR High that same day.  This just solidifies in my mind how fast these last 12 years have gone by.  I am lucky to have such a great son.  True there are many times in any given day that I wished to squash him like a bug with his constant dry and timely whit, but mostly I am just proud of the young man he is becoming.  12!  Half way to college graduation - I am not ready for this next 12 years.  After reading this to Hawk he just was kind enough to remind me that in twelve years I will be 51!  What?  Sigh!

Applees for Dinner to Support 6th Grade Rafting Field Trip

Family dinner at Applebees to support Hawk's 6th Grade class Rafting trip next month.  We had a  great time all four of us.  Hawk was very kind to share his root beer with his brother, and dessert when it came to table and Christopher decided it was his to share with the table rather than Hawk's.  What a good big brother!

Bon Jovi @ Mohegan Sun

Thank you M and P for the concert tickets.
Hawk and I had a really great time.  I haven't seen Hawk that impressed by a site since we came up out of the subway in NYC for the first time.  The opening band was good, Bon Jovi was great, and the encore was amazing.   I had never been to the Mohegan Sun before myself, I enjoyed the different design elements through out the space.   After the concert Hawk and I explored.  We ate a great dinner that could have fed a family of six at a BBQ Restaurant.  We enjoyed Ribs, Pulled Pork, Cheese Loaded Mash Potatoes, and Coleslaw.  Hawk enjoyed a very yummy Root Beer serve in a chilled bottle and I savored my so so coffee knowing that I still had to drive home and we still weren't ready to leave.  We visited the Arcade a few times and he watched on while I dropped a few bucks into the slots.  Hit some, lost some, oh well.  I was feeling it a bit wrong to be at the casino so late with Hawk until we saw a family including a young girl that couldn't have even have been three yet in the arcade at 1:30 AM. (Look in the picture above, Hawk Driving the Race Car and little girl cutting some rug on the dance pad.)  OK, at least I now had a scale to measure our appropriateness.  We saw many people taking naps in the car garage on our way out near 2AM in the morning . . . home just before 4AM.  What a blast.

Thank you to the person that bought Hawk a cap gun for Christmas.

Hawk thought it would be funny to shoot off several rounds in his room at the smoke alarm.  Little experiment . . . wondered if the smoke would set off the fire alarm . . . guess what . . . IT DID!  Dan Sr was on the phone in his office, didn't stop him, Christopher was watching a movie, didn't stop him either.  Time for a fire drill.

Hawk on the Falcons home turf at the Mass Mutual Center

A few weeks back now Hawk and his team the Springfield Capitals faced off to WTM Hockey Org.  This picture is him giving a big "YEAH" to the phone camera during warm ups.

This Friday night his team has been invited to the Falcons Game as division champs for the season.  They will be recognized on the ice during the first period break.  Way to go CAPS!  Next we are off to the play offs!  Still waiting on the dates and times.

Also Hawk is still participating in the Greg Carter Sunday Night Clinics and now the Spring 3 on 3 Ice has begun in Greenfield.  So it's almost over but then no because it all begins again.  Soon we'll be into try outs for next year as well. Hockey camp this summer too.

6th Grade Winter Olympics

Daniel and the 6th grade had a special Winter Olympic Event at school today. He was please to come home with the "Gold" for spelling. I asked what was your word . . . he said "multiplication" I was immediately confused. I thought you said your medal was for spelling? Oh, it was for spelling the word was "multiplication". Unfortunately Mom can be a bit thick from time to time, good thing I didn't have to participate in the educational Olympic event.

Car trouble update.

Returned the next day - after having it towed for repair in the city I decided to leave it there once I learned the cost of repair! Will figure a new plan to have it towed home for the costly repairs when I get enough to do so! Fuel pumps are expensive!

Try Outs followed by car troubles.

Hudled together with blanket while we await our rescue.

Last night Hawk gave it his all at try out to play spring/summer hockey with the New England Future Stars. I have no idea how the coaches will decide, they all seemed so good. 17 players and 2 goalies were pushing it on the ice. Controlled exercises, then controlled drills, and then mini half ice games. There were many coaches from many places there. Some seemed to be part of the selection process and others seemed to have just come to watch. "Play like you never know who's watching in the stands." Is what we always say . . . last night was definitely one of those nights.

Unfortunately - we went out to the parking lot to find that the car wouldn't start! YUCK! So far from home and nothing we could do. Friends Sarah and Phil came to our rescue, drove all the way out to get us and bring us home. Daniel and I spent some really great quality time hang out and sharing a blanket to keep warm while we waited for our rescue to bring us home. That was really nice. Now I have to go figure out not only how to get the car running but then how to get it home, since I can only drive one at a time! Oh well, GOOD JOB HAWK. Fingers crossed for you that the coaches saw your efforts and ability to play. No matter what we are proud of you.

Trip to Boston

Today Daniel and the entire 6th grade class took a coach bus to the Boston Science Museum. He reports that he had fun, this despite losing his money. Six kids tossed their cookies on the bus - not all of them made it to the bathroom either! Yuck! And he enjoyed the Harry Potter Exhibit.
